India Space Congress ( Success Story)

The India Space Congress (ISC) 2025, hosted by SIA-India, marked an essential moment in India’s space journey, reaffirming the nation's position as a credible space power and global collaborator in the realms of technology, sustainability, and governance. Held in New Delhi from 25 to 27 June, the fourth edition of ISC brought together over 1,000 delegates from 40+ countries, including senior leaders from ISRO, IN-SPACe, DRDO, MoD, MEA, MoES, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, global space agencies, startups, academia, and international investors. Anchored around the theme “Pioneering Innovations in Space Technology: India’s Journey Towards Global Partnership,” ISC 2025 served as a platform for frontier innovation, strategic policymaking, and cross-border cooperation, building on India's emergence as a trusted and capable leader in the global space economy.

A Historic Splashdown: India Marks a New Era in Human Spaceflight Collaboration

In a landmark moment for India’s human spaceflight aspirations, Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla of the Indian Air Force successfully returned to Earth after participating in the Axiom-4 mission — a privately operated international flight to the International Space Station. The mission’s successful splashdown is not only a technological feat but a powerful symbol of growing global collaboration and mutual trust among spacefaring nations.

For India, this event represents more than just participation; it signals the country’s emergence as a serious stakeholder and rising leader in human spaceflight. The mission demonstrates a unique collaborative model — where national institutions and global commercial platforms converge. Group Captain Shukla’s selection under a government-supported initiative and his integration into a commercially operated mission exemplify the evolving synergy between India’s public sector space ecosystem and international private players.

The Axiom-4 mission also carries significant value as a precursor to India’s indigenous Gaganyaan mission. It has provided essential operational experience and international exposure that will inform and enhance India’s future crewed missions. Beyond the immediate gains for the space sector, the microgravity experiments conducted aboard the mission — in biotechnology, advanced manufacturing, life sciences, and semiconductor development — signal wider opportunities for cross-sectoral innovation. These breakthroughs reaffirm how space research can directly benefit non-space industries, paving the way for commercial and scientific advances through space-enabled R&D.

IN-SPACE Transfers 10 ISRO Technologies to Six Indian Firms Following HAL-SSLV Deal

IN-SPACe has facilitated the transfer of ten critical ISRO-developed technologies to six Indian firms across upstream, midstream, and downstream domains, shortly after HAL’s ₹511-crore SSLV deal. The technologies include advanced inertial sensors, tri-band feed systems, antenna control mechanisms, agricultural geospatial models, a UAV-based bathymetry system, and flame-proof coating. These were developed by ISRO units including IISU, SAC, NRSC, and VSSC. The transfers were formalised through tripartite Technology Transfer Agreements between IN-SPACe, NSIL, and the respective recipient companies.

SIA-India welcomes this strategic handover and sees it as a strong enabler for building a competitive industrial base. This wave of technology transfers marks a significant milestone in operationalising India’s space sector reforms, particularly the mandate to unlock ISRO’s R&D for private sector utilisation.  Going forward, expanding the scale and frequency of such transfers will be key to accelerating Atmanirbharta in space and attracting deeper private investment.

Andhra Pradesh Unveils Space Policy 4.0 (2025–30) to Boost Industry Participation

The Government of Andhra Pradesh has released the A.P. Space Policy (4.0) 2025–30, aimed at creating an enabling environment for the development, manufacturing, and commercialisation of space technologies and services within the State. The policy targets ₹25,000 crore in investments over the next decade, with the goal of generating 5,000 direct and 30,000 indirect jobs in high-tech, space-linked domains.

Framed in alignment with the Government of India’s National Space Programme (NSP), the policy seeks to establish manufacturing clusters near Sriharikota, strengthen industrial supply chains, and promote public-private partnerships. The A.P. Space Policy 4.0 is a progressive and timely step toward decentralising India’s space industrial base and expanding regional hubs of innovation. SIA-India welcomes the policy’s emphasis on inclusivity—supporting start-ups, MSMEs, academia, and global players—and views it as a catalyst for deepening private sector engagement in national missions. As state governments begin to align with the broader objectives of the NSP, such initiatives signal a maturing policy environment that recognises the economic and strategic value of the space sector.
